Carrie’s Food Less Lawn Project and Homegrown Artichoke Risotto
I recently visited Carrie from Read Between the Limes to see first hand the incredible transformation of her front lawn. She lives on a corner lot in an older neighborhood which means she has a huge amount of front yard space to play with. The first time I saw her place she was still in…

April and May CSA boxes
I’m still receiving my CSA boxes but I’ve been spreading them out since I can grow a lot of my own produce right now. However, it’s still a treat to get farm fresh asparagus and strawberries. April’s CSA box was filled with greens. I blame the cooler the temps for the lack of the variety.…

April Bloom Day
I would rather think of today as Bloom Day instead of the dreaded tax day. This past month has been unusually cold and rainy for our area. The flowers seem to really enjoy the cooler temperatures and brief rain storms. The violas, alyssum, and poppies seem especially happy. I was surprised by this year’s columbines.…

Davis Community Garden
There has been a lot of debate on what is considered an ugly garden. Personally, I think gardening is about function. A garden bursting with plants and vegetables is beautiful even if the tomato cages are sagging and the bean t-pee is made out of broken sticks. I can appreciate the beautiful landscaped gardens of…

Second Week of CSA from Fully Belly
I received my second box of CSA goodies this Wednesday. I was thrilled to see that that I was getting asparagus again. The box also included spring garlic, navel oranges, swiss chard, large bag of mixed greens, asparagus, yellow potatoes, and huge carrots.
