My blogging has been a little sparse due to some recent big personal changes. I’ll be posting more about that later.
It’s been a great summer filled with unusual, moderate temperatures and cool evenings. That was until recently. The past few weeks have been filled with temperatures in the high 90’s and low 100’s. The biggest victim was my garden which went a little neglected this summer.
I realized as I was surveying my garden that ninety percent of the surviving plants are either purple or orange. It wasn’t intentional. It just happens that a number of last years plants and the ones I grew from seed came up a variation of these two colors. I also have a weakness for purple flowers. I think I did a lot of impulse buying of purple plants this past spring.
I planted many different dahlias but it’s the purple ones that keep blooming. I can’t really complain, I love the deep purple color of these dahlias.
I fell in love with this orange dahlia at Annie’s. I bought it for it’s dramatic black foliage. I can’t help but look at it and think of the San Francisco Giants.
Even my vegetables have been following the color scheme. These purple and cream dragon beans and the eggplants are doing really well.
I’m looking forward to fall and adding some new plants and colors to the garden.
