Arbor Day Foundation Trees

Back in December I received an invitation to join the Arbor Day Foundation for ten dollars. Arbor Day Foundation is the largest and oldest tree growing foundation. I was more than happy to give my support. My membership included eleven free trees. I thought this was a great idea because I could pick out two trees and maybe share the rest with friends and family.

The package inlcuded the following:

1 Crepe Myrtle I find that people have a love/hate relationship with this pretty but messy tree.
4 White Flowering Dogwoods
3 American Redbuds
3 Goldenraintrees
I had visions of sprightly little seedlings like last year’s pine trees.

Pines

I was more than a little suprised when I found these all bundled up in a bag. They resemble twigs more than anything at this point. I think it’s going to be a long time before I can actually hand out any of these to friends and family. Right now they are soaking in water but I’m going to find temporary containers with rich good tree growing soil. Hopefully, they will start to resemble trees in the next few months. The good news is that the Arbor Day Foundation will replace the set of trees if they are defective for four dollars (price of shipping).

I had to go back & read the post to understand that the last photo was the trees 🙂 Curious to see how long it takes for those to somewhat resemble trees…
