Great Pumpkin Seed Challenge

Last night we had a pumpkin seed cook-off. We tried three different recipes from two different types of pumpkins (white and orange). We set out to prove whether or not the internet rumors were true, are white pumpkin seeds better than the traditional orange pumpkins? To Boil or not to Boil? Here are the exciting results.

White Pumpkin Seeds vs. Orange Pumpkin Seeds

Winner: White Pumpkin Seeds
All three judges agreed that the white pumpkin seeds where bigger, meater, and overall tastier.

Boiling Seeds in Salt Water vs. Not Boiling
Winner: Not boiling, the mighty internet suggested you boil the seeds for 10 minutes in a light salt water solution to disperse the salt. I found that they didn’t taste any different but they did take longer to cook.

Judge 1: hmm, tastes like Kettle Corn
Judge 2: Yuck tastes like Sugar Smack Cereal
Judge 3: um, yuck
Verdict: There are two types of people in this world those who like Kettle Corn and those who do not. If your a lover of Kettle Corn you should give these a try.

VerdictA classic, traditional recipe it’s simple to make and it’s a big crowd pleaser.
The Great Dvorak Pumpkin Seeds
Dash Cayanne Pepper
Dash Pepper
Dash Garlic
Dash of Salt
Adjust to your liking
1 cup fresh pumpkin seeds

Preheat oven to 375. In a medium-sized bowl whisk dry ingredients until well blended. Add the pumpkin seeds and toss well. Place pumpkin seeds in a single layer across the baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden. Taste and season if needed.
