My Day in Atlanta

A few weeks ago we flew out to Atlanta and then drove back to California to help our friend move. I got to spend a day there in check out the sites of city. There are quite a few things out there that we don’t get a chance to experience. Because I live in sunny California I have been missing out on the best Iced Mocha ever at Cafe Intermezzo

Then we went to the High Museum or Art where we caught the Annie Liebovitz exhibit. They had recently expanded the museum so we ended up spending a few hours enjoying the different exhibits.

After that I got to experience another great culinary institution called the Mellow Mushroom. My boyfriend worked at one of these when he was a teenager and had always declared this the best pizza ever.

We got the gourmet white pizza. I have to say their crust is far superior then any of the chain pizza places we have in California.
Yummy

We spent the majority of the evening with our good friends who generously let us stay at their place for a few days. We where entertained by their three year old daughter who not only can tell the difference between a viola and a violin she can also guess the composer in just a few notes. She was also was very happy to share her toys and books with us.

No trip the south is complete without a late night visit to the Waffle House. Living on the west coast all my life I had missed out this rite of passage. This the place to go after a late night of partying. We had to settle for Denny’s when I was in college. The waffles where alright but what makes the Waffle House special is the hash browns. Ordering hash browns is like learning a whole new language. They are prepared in six different ways.
Traditional; Scattered & Smothered (Onions); Scattered, Smothered & Covered (Onions and Melted Cheese); Scattered, Smothered, Covered & Chunked (Onions, Cheese and Ham); Scattered, Smothered, Covered, Chunked & Topped (Onions, Cheese, Ham & Chili; Scattered, Smothered, Covered, Chunked, Topped & Diced (Onions, Cheese, Ham, Chili and Diced Tomatoes).
I tried scattered, smothered, and covered and I was kicking myself for not getting two orders of them.
