Great California Paint Out!

Today over 100 artists came to Davis, CA to participate in the Great California Paint Out. This event is being held in conjunction with the 10th Annual International Plein Air Painter Worldwide Paint Out.. Artists worked allover downtown Davis painting the scenery in every medium and style from 9-3:00pm. It was so much fun to see artists with their traveling easels creating works of art. One artist was a human canvas and had volunteers throw paint on him in front of the gallery. He looked like a walking Jackson Pollock painting. Others had a more traditional approach and painted the different landscapes that Davis has to offer. My husband, Simon, was one of the artists who participated. He worked around the historic Davis train station and I think he did a great job. The real fun will be tonight when the John Natsoulas Gallery will host a reception with music and refreshments. The artists works will be in a silent auction and prizes are going to be awarded by the mayor. This is a great chance for people to snatch up some great, affordable art from local artists. It’s being held from 7-9:30 pm at the John Natsoulas Gallery. I hope to see some of you there.

Looks like a great time making fresco paintings. I will have to see if our buddy up in Davis swung by to check it out. Still need to make it up there…I hear a fun town. Hope the auction goes / went well. Matti

Oh you should come up to Davis sometime, you will love the arboretum plus we are only 20 minutes away from Sacramento and fellow garden blogger Readbetweenthelimes.

It’s nice to hear from you.

    Take care

    Kristi
