I’ve been waiting for this giant Berkley Tie-Dye tomato to finally ripen only to find this little critter snacking on it. It is the result of the white cabbage butterfly (Pieris rapae). It’s probably the most prolific butterfly in the garden. While I enjoy seeing the wisps of white flutter around the garden I do not enjoy her progeny. This is the third one I’ve found on this particular plant. My strategy so far is to pick them off and throw them to birds. But I may have to resort to another more effective organic solution if they keep raiding my tomatoes.

Oh, what a bummer…are you able to salvage any of the tomato??? Sometimes gardening can be so disheartening.
