It may be raining non-stop but there are still some hopeful signs of spring. My Dutch iris, crocus, and hyacinth bulbs are starting to make their appearances.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like I’m going to have the plethora of tulips I was hoping for. I noticed a few weeks ago a large gray squirrel hanging around the back yard. At first I thought it was cute and didn’t think anything of it. But then I began to notice strange impressions in the pots and now I’m finding partially eaten bulbs. Grrr, I may have to turn into Bill Murrey in Caddie Shack. I bought a few tulip bulbs on clearance to replace them. But whether or not they will grow this late in the season is up in the air.
But the inside bulbs are doing great. The Hyacinths are finally starting to peep out and show there purple petals. They smell good as well.
Now excuse me, I’ve got to go catch a squirrel.
