Freaky Friday

winchester
It’s Friday the Thirteenth a day that most people claim is unlucky. Friday the 13th always reminds me of the Winchester Mystery House.

The story goes that in 1884 Sarah Winchester the inheritior of the Winchester Rifle fortune lost both her husband and her daughter. A psychic told her that she had to appease the angry spirits that had died as a result of the Winchester Rifle. She was to move to California and as long as she kept building her home she would live forever. Sarah settled into San Jose California and she built and built her home for thirty eight years.

This house is amazing it had the marden marvels of modern heating and sewer system. But she built the home without any plans. The home has stairs that lead to nowhere, doors that lead to a four story drop, windows that are blocked by walls, and the list goes on and on. It has 160 rooms, including 40 bedrooms, two ballrooms, and 47 fireplaces. If you never been there it’s a fun place to visit. My high school was just around the corner from here so I attempted many times to get a job there (hey it’s cooler than being a cashier at Target). Many television psychics claim this place is haunted so if you dare try the flashlight tours they give on all Friday the 13ths and Halloween.

I visited there as a kid, such a cool place!

I loved going there as a kid. I think it was better then because it was before that Loma earthquake and they had to shut down parts of the house for safety reasons. I have never done the flash light tour though.

Isn’t that something! Must be incredible to visit. Reminds me of that “horror flick” from many years back — Rose Red or whatever it was called with the house that went on forever!
