My boyfriend and I went to the Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt Animation show at the Crest Theatre the other week. The Animation Show is an annual feature-length compilation of the best animated short films from around the world, exclusively curated by Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt. It was awesome. The evening started off with a bang when Simon caught the Animation show T-shirt from the second floor of the theatre.
There were eleven short animated films. All except one were amazing in their own way. My favorites were Paradise City which was a mix of live action 2D and 3D animation, the computer animated film Overtime, and 9 which is being made into a full length film. We also viewed Don Hertzfeldt’s short animated film “Everything Will be Ok” which recently won best animated short at the Sundance Film Festival.
If you get the chance I would check the schedule to see if the animation show will be coming into your town.
I was also happy to find out that of the films represented in the prior two animation shows can be bought on Amazon or rented on Netflix.
