I am going to be busy today cleaning up the garden the best I can and planting shallots and garlic for next year. I am growing Yellow Dutch shallots and Tempest Brown garlic with German Porcelain garlic. I am planting later this year than last year since it’s important not to plant them too early or they will start to grow more foliage and not concentrate on the bulbs. Last year’s garlic was grown in stages and I found that the ones that I had planted later did grow better. As for shallots, I have not grown them before but was surprised to learn that they were easier to grow than onions. Now all I have to do is wait the six to nine months it takes for them to mature.
